easyJet, Europe’s leading low-fares airline, is launching a new daily flight to Athens from Rome Fiumicino airport this autumn. The new route follows easyJet’s ongoing support to Greek tourism industry with a network of 21 routes from Europe to Greece including the addition of six new routes from Europe for this summer holiday season.
Alexia Dogani, easyJet’s route manager, said: “We at easyJet are excited to launch a new route joining these two great cities. For over ten years, easyJet is proud to be operating into and supporting the Greek market.”
easyJet will offer seven weekly flights from Greek capital to Rome which brings the number of destinations served from Athens airport to seven. The new route to Rome came in addition to easyJet’s 15 new routes across Europe for its 2009/10 winter schedule. The airline expects to carry 550, 000 passengers to Greece this year, which shows 18 per cent increase from last year’s figures.
Since last summer, easyJet has expanded its presence in Greece by launching six new routes from across Europe, which joined existing connections to twenty one destinations from Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Rhodes, Corfu, Santorini and Mykonos. easyJet flies on a year round basis to Athens and Thessaloniki and operates summer only flights to the popular Greek tourist destinations.
