Thursday, July 16, 2009
It’s smiles all around for the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre’s jubilant Sales & Marketing Team after garnering the CEI Asia Industry Award 2009 for ‘Asia’s Best Convention & Exhibition Centre’ title and joint third placing for ‘Asia’s Best MICE Sales Team’.

Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre scores double with the CEI Asia Industry Award 2009 for ‘Asia’s Best Convention & Exhibition Centre’ title and joint third placing for ‘Asia’s Best MICE Sales Team’.

Kuala Lumpur, 15 July 2009 - The achievements keep on coming for the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) as it received the CEI Asia Industry Award 2009 for ‘Asia’s Best Convention & Exhibition Centre’ and a joint-third place for ‘Asia’s Best MICE Sales Team’ at a presentation ceremony recently.

CEI Asia is the region’s leading magazine covering the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) industry. The prestigious annual CEI Asia Industry Awards are voted on by the magazine’s readers - the leading planners and buyers of conferences, exhibitions and incentives across Asia.

These awards are considered the most useful and credible research in the industry, and a direct reflection of market opinion across the region.

Mr Shannon Sweeney, Editor, CEI Asia was on hand to present the awards to Mr Peter Brokenshire, the Centre’s General Manager, who accepted the award for ‘Asia’s Best Convention & Exhibition Centre’ and Ms Angeline Lue, the Centre’s Director of Sales and Marketing accepting the award on behalf of her team for ‘Asia’s Best MICE Sales Team’.

Mr Sweeney said: “Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre’s award for Asia’s Best Convention Centre is an excellent result that comes just four years after its opening. CEI Asia’s readers – Asia’s leading planners of business events – have recognised the Centre as an outstanding venue in which to hold conferences and exhibitions.

“The Centre’s top-three finish for having Asia’s Best MICE Sales Team reinforces this result. It is tangible proof of the sincerity and trust that this team has been able to build in its relationships with Asia’s key planners of MICE events.

“This double dose of good news for the Centre should be welcomed in the current economic climate. Malaysia has every right to be proud of the excellent work that the Centre is doing internationally to promote both the country and the venue as a world-class hub for conferences and exhibitions.

Paying tribute to the Centre’s dedicated team, Mr Brokenshire said: “These awards would not have been achieved without the contribution of our most valuable asset, our people whose dedication and professionalism, untiring efforts and cohesive teamwork in striving for perfection and excellence has taken the Centre to where it is in a mere four years, Asia’s leading convention facility.

“I am especially proud of our Sales and Marketing team, whose passion and commitment have secured more than 2,100 events since our opening in June 2005 to May 2009, contributing more than RM 1.9 billion to the city”.

“This recognition by the astute readers of CEI Asia affirms the Centre’s belief in providing an excellent experience for every guest and to not only meet, but to exceed, our clients’ expectations, whenever possible.”

Brokenshire concluded that having a united and committed team is crucial to the growth of the business tourism industry in Malaysia. “We strive to continuously innovate our offerings, remain responsive to market demands and add value to our clients. All these elements are essential to the development of our latest campaign, ‘We Have A Deal For You’, where we offer a customised value proposition tailored to the needs of banquets, meetings, conventions and exhibitions.”
