NWTO solidarity with Indonesia and confidence in its tourism sector

UNWTO’s Secretary-General a.i., Taleb Rifai, expressed his solidarity with the people of Indonesia in the face of the recent event in Jakarta, Indonesia. Rifai confirmed that UNWTO is working closely with the Ministry of Tourism and Culture to advance its tourism sector, which plays a vital role for Indonesia in terms of jobs, trade and development.

At the same time with its strong ecological and cultural characteristics, the sector is of significant strategic importance, with a great potential to play a leading role in the transformation to the green economy.

UNWTO has great confidence in the capacity of the Government of Indonesia to overcome in the very short term the current difficulties and looks forward to closer collaboration to assist in building an even stronger Tourism sector in the future.
