Saint-Tropez glamour, parisian flair and Marrakech magic
Murano Hotels & Resorts adds all that to the design hotels portfolio
Thursday, August 06, 2009
What do Saint-Tropez, Paris and Marrakech have in common? Three stunning properties by Murano Hotels & Resorts that are now part of Design Hotels’ curated portfolio. Known for creating properties that become destinations in and of themselves, Murano Hotels & Resorts has developed two strong, distinctive and yet complementary brands: Kube Hotel – a whimsical “playground” with a futuristic design inspired by the geometric form of a cube and Murano Resort – a blend of cutting-edge design, luxury and architecture.

Cote d’Azur Chic: Kube Hotel Saint-Tropez
The newly opened Kube Hotel, Saint-Tropez, the French Riviera counterpart to the celebrated KUBE Hotel Paris, is a lush Mediterranean refuge by day and a glitzy playground by night. With its Cote d’Azur debut, the KUBE makes a bold statement in Saint-Tropez through modern architecture and contrasting cubist elements.

To access their rooms, guests will find the same creative and playful concept as in its Parisian cousin: they have to go through a transparent cube, delicately placed on the water. Spacious and full of light, the sprawling resort features a 24-metre seaside swimming pool and an intimate garden-side wellness area, exclusive to hotel guests, as well as a fitness area offering massage treatments, relaxation therapy and heated swimming pool.

41 guest rooms and suites are arranged in four freestanding buildings along the perimeter of the resort gardens and pools. Ranging from 30 to 100 square metres, they come in sizes from S to XXL Terrace, and 28 of them feature a private garden, balcony or terrace.

Refined, minimalist and restrained, the decor throughout the resort evokes a festive and yet intimate atmosphere. Materials such as marble, solid oak, stainless steel and Corian in tones of light gray and white were used throughout the resort’s common areas. Rooms and suites are furnished with custom-made modular furniture, easily re-configured based on a guest’s mood. Bathrooms are outfitted with oversized bathtubs, rain showers and some even have their own steam bath with side-mounted body jets.

By night the hotel takes the appearance of a nightclub with two bars including a rooftop sky lounge with bay view and the poolside Ice KUBE, the iconic ice bar designed in partnership with Grey Goose vodka, where DJs spin hip-hop and lounge dance tracks. KUBE Hotel, Saint-Tropez is located only 10 minutes away from downtown Saint-Tropez by car.

Urban Style: Murano Resort Paris
Located in the Marais, one of Paris’ hippest neighbourhoods, Murano Resort Paris “hides” behind a simple unadorned 19th century white facade. But once inside, guests discover a playful and yet sophisticated world of quirky design, evocative lighting and technological innovation. 52 rooms and suites, all with Biometric fingerprint technology controls and mood-suiting lights, are blissful affairs with white matte walls, luminous cubes, modern paintings, pop art objects, layered curtains and moulded glass desks. Bathrooms are sleekly crafted in black and white, comprised mostly of stone, slate, chrome and ebony. Two of the suites even come with private, outdoor heated swimming pools for the utmost in luxury.

Moroccan Paradise: Murano Resort Marrakech
The Murano Hotels & Resorts design team, who also conceived MURANO Resort Paris, has masterfully captured the architectural essence of Marrakech. They have combined it with contemporary design, creating a serene environment that blends authenticity, modernity, comfort and sophistication. The property has 24 junior suites and six suites within five riads, traditional Moroccan houses arranged around a central courtyard. In the hotel foreground stands a red-tiled pool surrounded by a maze of red and white sofas. The largest of the riads is home to the hotel lobby, restaurant and bar and a large terrace with views over three hectares of 100-year-old palm, olive and tangerine trees. Located 15 minutes from the Medina in quiet northeast Marrakech, MURANO Resort Marrakech offers a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the busy Red City.
