Successful pilot project at Athens International Airport “El. Venizelos”
Mobile phone as boarding pass from Austrian Airlines
Friday, September 11, 2009
Austrian Airlines is further facilitating its customers through technology, putting into full effect a new, innovative service. The pilot project for “mobile boarding card”, which was launched a month ago and has finally been approved for the departures from Athens International Airport “El. Venizelos”, will have immediate effect, enhancing the web check-in service which Austrian Airlines offers its passengers.

Through the web check-in service, Austrian Airlines passengers are able to check-in through their mobile phone and at the same time get an electronic boarding card. To do this, travelers can visit the site https://checkin.austrian.com and insert their surname, the booking code or e-ticket number. Alternatively, they can use their credit card number or the frequent flier card number, if they have used these cards as means of identification for the issue of their e-ticket. The electronic boarding card will be sent to their mobile by SMS, provided that their mobile can have internet connection. The service is available 24 hours before departure.

Scanners have already been installed at the check-in counters and at the check points of the transit area aiming at the immediate service and facilitation of the passengers.
