New Mistral visits Rhodes
Monday, August 02, 1999

The newest cruise vessel to sail the Mediterranean, the Mistral owned by Festival  Cruises, made its official debut recently at Rhodes. This first new-generation cruise vessel sails weekly from the Italian port of Genoa and stops at Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes and Gytheio. A French shipyard built the Mistral for $240 million. Festival's owners were so impressed and pleased with the ship  that they ordered another two sister ships. The first is due in 2001 and the second in 2002. Festival has 10 offices throughout Europe and is the first cruise company to adopt the euro as the base currency for all payments on board its vessels.
