Friday, October 09, 2009
The tourism and leisure trade visit from 4-8 October 2009 to Palestine organised by UK Trade & Investment (the UK government's international business development organisation) and British Expertise (the UK trade association for professional services overseas) was joined by Tourism Society Tourism Consultants Network members.

The three member delegation invited to accompany British Expertise and UK Trade and Investment on the business development mission to Palestine this week are Tourism Society's Chairman Alison Cryer of Representation Plus and members Benjamin Carey of Dunira Strategy and Malcolm George of Scot Wilson.

The team of experts will prepare a follow-up report to the mission with their recommendations for Palestine's future tourism development. "We have been very impressed so far with what we have seen and with the professionalism of the private sector" commented Alison Cryer, "There is a lot of potential for Palestine to diversify their tourism product (currently mainly pilgrimages) to include short breaks, history, culture and/or art tours, gastronomy tours and hiking".
