It’s easy to get to Göteborg by air, rail, bus or ferry from various international destinations. And getting here is half the fun. Göteborg is a major harbour city with the second largest airport in Sweden, and a hub in the Swedish railway network.

By air
It’s easy to get to Göteborg from various international destinations. Scandinavian Airlines, SAS, runs daily flights to all the major European destinations, either non-stop or via Copenhagen. Most international flights are accessible from Copenhagen. The flight time from Copenhagen to Göteborg is 35 minutes. In addition to SAS, all the major European airlines fly to Göteborg. There are domestic flights to all of Sweden's main cities.

Airports
Göteborg Landvetter Airport is 25 km east of Göteborg. There are coaches from the city centre to the airport every 15 minutes. The journey to the airport takes just 20 minutes.

Göteborg City Airport is located about 15 kilometers from the centre. It operates business, charter and scheduled airline flights. Airport coaches run from the Nils Ericson Terminal.

By train
Taking the train is an easy and pleasant way of getting to Göteborg. Many trains run daily from cities all over Europe. The Central Station lies in the heart of Göteborg. Facilities include currency exchange, cash machines, car rental and various shops. Most tram and bus routes also at the nearby Drottningtorget square.

By boat
There are daily ferries to Göteborg from Denmark, Germany, and England, most with several departures a day.

By bus
Coach transport to Göteborg is available from several destinations in Sweden and Europe. There are a selection of modern companies with coaches of all sizes, to suit different travellers.

Getting around
Taking the tram is one of the nicest ways of getting around in Göteborg. The city has 204 trams which operate 11 routes, as well as buses and archipelago ferries.
