Aegean Airlines, Greece’s largest airline and bmi, a member of Star Alliance, have signed a commercial co-operation agreement including the code-share operation of the Athens/London route offering significant benefits to both companies’ customers.

Commencing οn 25 October 2009 and coinciding with the move of Aegean’s operation to London Heathrow, the code share will allow Aegean Airlines to offer 6 new connections via transfer in London: Manchester, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Belfast and Dublin. The partnership will also allow bmi to offer 4 new onward connections via transfer in Athens: Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Chania and Rhodes. All flights will carry both companies’ airline codes ('A3' and 'BD').

Our passengers will welcome the onward connections to Manchester, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Belfast and Dublin” said Dimitris Gerogiannis, CEO at Aegean Airlines.

"bmi are delighted to team up with Aegean Airlines whose high quality product and service ethic closely matches our own customer proposition, with an expansion that aligns very well to the further growth of our Star Alliance partnerships. We look forward to offering our customers the opportunity to travel on the new service between Heathrow and Athens, and in the future to further Greek destinations, as well as offering same terminal connections to and from our UK and Ireland destinations”, commented Dominic Paul, Managing Director bmi mainline.
