Low cost champions to offer 42 European routes through their websites
Germanwings and bmibaby to team up
Monday, October 19, 2009

Low cost airlines Germanwings and bmibaby have announced an agreement to link their website and list flights of both airlines on germanwings.com and bmibaby.com. This means that customers will benefit from a wider range of available flights.

The link will make it possible to book additional connections through the Germanwings and bmibaby website. bmibaby customers will not only find the new Germanwings connection from Manchester to Cologne online, starting October 25th, but also numerous flights which the German airline offers through its transfer hub Cologne/Bonn. Germanwings' passengers can choose from the wide offer of bmibaby's extensive network of routes to European cities.

In order to minimise booking time, the airlines have combined to introduce an extremely simply ticketing procedure. Having selected a flight, the customer will be forwarded to the corresponding booking page of the partner airline where they will be able to buy to purchase a ticket for the next stage of their journey. Passengers will also be able to take advantage of additional travel options on the partner’s website, such as special hotel deals or rental car offers.

Commenting, Thomas Winkelmann, CEO of Germanwings said: “We are very excited to be able to get this new agreement up and running quickly for the benefit of our customers. Partnering with bmibaby increases our presence in the British market. "

Crawford Rix, managing director, bmibaby, added: “We are delighted to announce our partnership today with Germanwings. They are one of Europe’s most successful low cost airlines and it is great pleasure to be working with them.  We both offer great quality at low prices, and ensure that travel within Europe is affordable. By providing a direct link between bmibaby.com and Germanwings.com we are offering travellers in Europe even more places to fly to at really low fares.”
