Viceroy Hotels & Resorts’ first mountain resort - Viceroy Snowmass - will be unveiled on Nov. 25, 2009, the day prior to the launch of Aspen/Snowmass’ 2009/2010 winter season. Bringing the Viceroy brand’s signature fusion of glamorous style, provocative design and innovative culinary experiences to the mountains, Viceroy Snowmass features inspirational interiors by acclaimed designer Jean-Michel Gathy of the Malaysia-based architectural powerhouse, Denniston International, and a pool cafe and pool terrace by celebrated designer Kelly Wearstler. Occupying a premier ski-in/ski-out location at the base of the Assay Hill lift and minutes from downtown Aspen, Viceroy Snowmass is the signature hotel of Snowmass’ new Base Village, location of the Treehouse Adventure Center, home of Ski & Snowboard Schools of Aspen’s children’s ski school.
Viceroy Snowmass, designed to achieve LEED Silver certification, offers 173 guest rooms ranging from stylish studios to expansive four-bedroom residences, with galley or full kitchens, stunning mountain views and Jean-Michel Gathy’s contemporary alpine decor. The hotel’s amenities include a dramatically designed fine dining restaurant with a glimmering display kitchen and private dining rooms; an 87-foot-long glass-topped, apres-ski bar; a plush lounge designed around a double-sided fireplace; slopeside ski valet services which enable guests to transfer their skis to any of the area’s four ski mountains; a full-service spa; fitness room; Kelly Wearstler-designed pool cafe and slopeside pool experience with permanent cabanas integrating fire design elements, and 9,000 square feet of flexible and stylish conference and event space.
"Snowmass is the perfect setting for Viceroy’s first mountain resort,” said Nicholas Clayton, President of Viceroy Hotel Group. "The new property exudes Viceroy style, with remarkable interior design, a superb location and exceptional amenities to draw discerning travelers to one of the finest ski mountains in the world.”
