Boutique brand invites guests to experience one of America’s favorite cities
Hotel Indigo doubles in Texas with two new hotels in San Antonio
Monday, October 26, 2009
Hotel Indigo announced the addition of two new properties in San Antonio to double the brand’s presence in Texas. The Hotel Indigo San Antonio Riverwalk, which opened last week, and the Hotel Indigo San Antonio at the Alamo, which will open this winter, join properties in Dallas and Houston for a total of four in the Lone Star State.

San Antonio, home to the Alamo, the World Champion San Antonio Spurs and the River Walk, hosts a vibrant mix of culture, cuisine, architecture, and history. The most visited city in Texas, San Antonio boasts a cosmopolitan blend of history and tradition along with top-notch golf courses, remarkable dining and nightline options, art galleries, spas, and shopping.

“San Antonio is a dynamic and diverse city and a perfect location for the Hotel Indigo brand,” said Mary Dogan, director, Brand Delivery, Hotel Indigo, the Americas, IHG.  “A destination for both business and leisure travelers, Hotel Indigo delivers a unique and refreshing boutique experience along with all the benefits, reliability and accessibility that they’ve come to expect from a branded hotel.”

The Hotel Indigo San Antonio Riverwalk is located on the north end of San Antonio’s historic River Walk area.  The renovations of this conversion property reflect the liveliness of the surrounding historic neighborhood with unique architecture, rich colors, and warm finishes.  Hotel Indigo San Antonio Riverwalk features 149 airy and inviting suites.  The hotel is owned by RW Hotel Associates, LP, and managed by Trans Inns Management, Inc. under a license agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group.

Opening this winter, the Hotel Indigo San Antonio at the Alamo is located just across from the historical Alamo in the historic Gibbs Building. The 100-year-old building has been renovated into a 91-room property, including 28 suites, while still retaining all of its original wood work and marble. The hotel is owned by 1909 Ltd. and will be managed by InterContinental Hotels Group, Inc., on behalf of 1909 Ltd.

The hotels are both conveniently located near the River Walk entertainment district, the historic Alamo, Baptist Medical Center and the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. The San Antonio International Airport is also within close proximity to the hotels, making it convenient for both leisure and business travelers.

Meeting the desires of today's traveler, Hotel Indigo is an upscale boutique brand that delivers a refreshing and inviting guest experience that is truly reflective of the local community. From the locally-inspired murals to the renewal program where the images, music, scent, and menu items change through out the year, Hotel Indigo gives guests a vibrant, engaging and genuine boutique experience.

Both hotels feature inviting guest rooms with plush bedding, high-definition flat screen TV, CD player and spa-inspired showers with Aveda products. Hard-surface flooring with area rugs create a fresh residential feel. Dining options include Phi Bar and Bistro, serving locally-inspired gourmet menu items with a full-service bar. Additionally, each hotel offers complimentary Wi-Fi and 24-hour access to the business center, onsite meeting space and fitness studio.

There are currently 33 Hotel Indigo properties open worldwide and more than 60 hotels under development, either in the pipeline or in final negotiation. By the end of 2009, Hotel Indigo is forecasted to almost double its footprint in the Americas by opening properties in New York City, Miami and Asheville, N.C.
