American Airlines will launch service from New York to Madrid, Spain next year. Beginning May 1, 2010, American will inaugurate daily nonstop flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) and Madrid Barajas Airport (MAD) aboard 182-seat Boeing 757-200 aircraft in two-class configuration.
American Airlines’ flight #94 will depart New York JFK at 5:40 PM, arriving in Madrid at 7:20 AM the following morning. The return flight on American #95 will depart Madrid at 10 AM, arriving back at JFK at 12:30 PM the same day.
“American’s new service underscores the airline’s confidence in Spain as a top-selling destination and the country’s popularity with Americans. U.S. arrivals to Spain increased in the past two years,” explains Javier Pinanes, director of the Tourist Office of Spain in New York. “Madrid has become one of the world’s leading art and culture capitals. Americans come for the world-class art, to sample our innovative and traditional cuisine and to enjoy the nonstop nightlife. Now with the airline’s new nonstop service, Americans will have more choices when they travel to Madrid,” says Pinanes.
In American’s Business Class, 16 passengers will enjoy the fully-motorized lie-flat seats and in-seat audio and video on demand. In economy, 166 passengers will experience a newly-designed seat with increased knee room. New 17 inch LCD monitors and a digital media file server provide enhanced in-flight entertainment quality.
“The new route further demonstrates American’s commitment to the Spanish market, which American has been serving continuously for over 20 years” said Craig Kreeger, American’s Senior Vice President – International. “This will be our third scheduled service between Madrid and the U.S. and follows the successful launch of the Madrid-Dallas/Fort Worth service last summer. We believe this new service to New York will prove equally popular, providing a great connection not only to one of the world’s most exciting cities but also to the many onward destinations we serve from JFK.
