World Travel Market, the premier global event for the travel industry, is pleased to announce Travel Channel International as its official travel broadcast partner for WTM 2009.
Travel Channel, the largest pan-European TV channel dedicated to the travel experience in all its forms, is producing a ten minute feature from this year's WTM to air throughout January 2010 within the series Travel Today. The station is also producing the spectacular prize presentation of WTM's Passport Competition on Thursday 12th November, part of the Travel Agents Day of interactive training, skills and product knowledge.
World Travel Market Chairman Fiona Jeffery said: "We have been working closely with Travel Channel International for the past seven years and I am delighted that they are working with us as official broadcast partner for 2009".
According to the latest EMS Survey Travel Channel is now the 8th most viewed Pan-European channel making it by far the leading Travel Broadcaster. This has been enhanced in 2009 by the launch of a dedicated German speaking channel and Travel Deals Direct, the only independent on-air and online Travel Agency in the UK. In January 2010 Travel Channel will be launching the UK's first major studio series dedicated to holidays and travel in 5 years. The Holiday Show promises a mix of entertainment, celebrities, industry guests, journalists and consumer and topical information dedicated to inspiring viewers with their own holiday ideas.
Travel Channel will be reporting from World Travel Market on the decisions that affect consumers and their holidays, and finding out how the industry's movers and shakers are responding to the challenges affecting the travel industry in the current economic climate.
Travel Channel's CEO, Richard Wolfe said the station's continued partnership with World Travel Market was a natural progression for the company and a reflection of the growing relationship, cemented in previous years.
"WTM provides its exhibitors with an unique and objective world view on the international travel and tourism industry, as a broadcaster specialising in travel our objectives reflect those of WTM, this valuable partnership for 2009 will communicate exhibitors news to the largest pan-European audience, with Travel Channel broadcasting in 15 languages to over 117 countries across Europe, Middle East and Africa."
