WTTC to release revised forecasts for travel and tourism

On Tuesday 10 November, the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) will present new economic forecasts that will estimate the impact of the recession on the global Travel & Tourism industry in 2009 and 2010. The brief presentations will focus on:
- How Travel & Tourism has fared in comparison with the global economy overall
- The outlook for growth and employment in Travel & Tourism
- Factors that will stimulate or jeopardise the recovery
- Exchange rates and oil price forecasts
- The likely impact of the H1N1 influenza pandemic on Travel & Tourism
Speakers will include WTTC’s President & CEO, Jean-Claude Baumgarten, and Adrian Cooper, Managing Director of Oxford Economics, WTTC's research partner. In addition, WTTC will briefly present its latest economic impact studies of Trinidad & Tobago, Montenegro, and the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, venue and host of the 9th Global Travel & Tourism Summit.
For the launch of the Trinidad & Tobago study, Baumgarten and Cooper will be joined by Ernest Littles, President & Director of Tourism of the Tourism Development Company.
Predrag Nenezic, Minister of Tourism and Environment, will join the press conference and talk about Montenegro’s impact study. Jeanine Pires, President of Embratur, will also participate in the press conference to talk about the Santa Catarina report, launched last week in Brazil, and the impact of the Summit on the country's tourism.
The press event will take place at 14:30-15:30 on Tuesday 10 November at the Excel Centre in Platinum Suite 5.
