Programme to inform tour operators for 2012 Olympics
UKInbound to launch 2010 Convention at WTM

Next week at World Travel Market, UKinbound will launch details of its 2010 Convention. Taking place in York from 03 to 05 February, the UKinbound Convention 2010 will focus on preparing tourism business for the upturn and for the 2012 Olympic Games and is aimed at decision makers and senior managers in all sectors of the inbound tourism industry.

The event will include seminars, focusing on ticketing accommodation and transport strategies of the 2012 Games; a business-to-business workshop, enabling tour operators and suppliers to pre-book short meetings; and familiarisation trips to enable tour operator to experience unique itineraries of the local region.

The event already has a number of extremely high-profile speakers confirmed including;
- Digby Lord Jones of Birmingham, former Director General of the CBI and Minister of State for UK Trade and investment, known in the public arena for his candid and forthright views from his regular media appearances
- Rt Hon Margaret Hodge MP, Minister for Culture, Creative Industries and Tourism and former Minister of State for Industry and the Regions
- Walter Dobrowolski, Managing Director, SportsMark, the event management and strategic marketing company that has managed more than 125 world-class sponsor hospitality programs and special corporate events around the Olympic Games
- Donna Taylor, Head of Accommodation, London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games LOCOG, the body responsible for preparing and staging the 2012 Games
- Patrick Hoffstetter, Managing Director, lastminue.com UK and Ireland. Patrick had a pivotal role in building lastminute.com in France  and took over as MD in the UK earlier this year.
- Charles Prew, CEO Barcelo UK Hotels. Charles has extensive experience in the hospitality sector, with senior roles at Hilton Hotels Jarvis Hotels, Hanover International and in his role as CEO of Barcelo UK Hotels, is also a members of DCMSs Tourism Advisory Council

UKinbound is urging its members to book early this year to guarantee their choice of accommodation (at the York Marriott Hotel or the Holiday Inn York). The first 50 tour operators to book will also be entered into a draw to win a free room upgrade for the spectacular Carlton Towers, a stunning gothic style house dating back to the 17th century.

The Convention 2010 will take place in York, a lively, riverside city with beautiful historic streets, a vibrant cafe culture, stunning museums and art galleries and numerous world class attractions. York is a year-round destination steeped in history and culture, supported by an extensive selection of hotel accommodation and with easy access for motorway and mainline train networks.

The Convention sessions will take place at York Racecourse one of the city’s flagship venues and a regular winner of Racecourse of the Year.
