Iceland Epress spreads its wings
Iceland’s low-fare airline adds four new routes in just six weeks
Friday, November 13, 2009
With Iceland becoming an increasingly popular destination, low-fare airline Iceland Express has been encouraged to expand its flight schedule. Announcing four new routes in just six weeks, Iceland Express will now fly to New York, Akureyri, Birmingham and Stansted. With all the new routes in place, Iceland Express will serve 25 destinations during the summer months of 2010 – a record high for the airline.

“This next year is going to be an extremely exciting time for us,” said Matthias Imsland, Iceland Express CEO. “Iceland Express is going from strength to strength at the moment and we cannot wait to begin flying to our new destinations. We are especially delighted to be going transatlantic and hope our new service will entice more consumers to fly with us, whether they want to discover the glacial beauty and vibrant culture of Iceland or take a low-cost trip to New York.”

Due to high consumer demand, Iceland Express re-commenced flights between Stansted and Reykjavik at the beginning of November 2009. The service runs on a twice weekly basis with flights departing every Monday and Friday.

Beginning on 1 June 2010, Iceland Express will fly from Reykjavik’s Keflavik International Airport to New York City’s Newark International Airport four times a week.

During the same month, Iceland Express will launch a weekly service between Birmingham International Airport and Keflavik International Airport.

Customers will also be able to fly with the airline to Iceland’s second city – Akureyri.  The weekly service will start in June and will run from London Gatwick.

The northern city of Akureryi is a fascinating destination that features something for every one. It boasts a busting downtown district, lively nightlife and trails that wind through the region’s breathtaking forests and parks.
