Widely referred to as the ‘Oscars’ of the travel industry, American Airlines is celebrating its recent win at the British Travel Awards where it was crowned ‘Airline of the Year’. The award represents American’s first win at The British Travel Awards on a night when the airline was also shortlisted for ‘Best Scheduled Airline - Long Haul’ and ‘Most Environmentally Responsible Airline’.
Maria Sebastian, Vice-President Sales & Marketing EMEA, American Airlines, who collected the award, commented: “We are delighted to win this award and hope that it will be the first of many. In a competitive industry, American is constantly seeking to evolve its customer experience offering and awards such as this demonstrate that our efforts do not go unnoticed. The category included some fantastic airlines and this, together with the fact that the category was voted for by over 60 highly regarded travel industry professionals, makes the win even more exciting.”
The latest win follows similar success at the World Travel Awards 2009, where American was named ‘North America’s Leading Airline’ and ‘North America’s Leading Transatlantic Airline’, while the oneworld alliance, which also includes American, was named ‘World’s Leading Airline Alliance’.
