Egypt’s leading desert resort has won the Best Adventure accolade in the Tatler Travel Awards 2010. Al Tarfa Desert Sanctuary, an eco-luxury destination set in a Sahara oasis, was described as “isolation for the intrepid traveller” in the magazine’s influential annual awards.
“We are delighted to add the Tatler Best Adventure award to our growing list of accolades,” says Wael Abed, Al Tarfa's Managing Partner. “Al Tarfa is rightly recognised as one of the world’s top resorts and offers visitors a unique desert experience.”
The Tatler Travel Guide, out now with the January issue of Tatler, describes Al Tarfa as “like a mirage” and “soul-stirring stuff”.
Al Tarfa Desert Sanctuary Lodge and Spa is a project under Orascom Hotels Holding, a subsidiary of Orascom Hotels and Development.
The resort was built with local, natural materials and aims to contribute to the preservation of the nature, social patterns, traditional industries and distinctive architecture of the Sahara Oases.
Al Tarfa was awarded best in Egypt by Conde Nast Traveller in July 2009 and was rated one of the World’s Top 100 Hotels and Resorts.
