Air France and UNESCO in aid of street children
Thursday, December 31, 2009
On November 26, the Air France Foundation and UNESCO organized a day-long event devoted to the plight of destitute children. During the event, held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, a seminar brought together experts, associations and political representatives from the various continents to explore new lines and actions, whether political, educational or social, in an attempt to eradicate this scourge.

In the evening, 'Street Children,' a documentary directed by Michel Bulte, was previewed with a commentary by French actor Pierre Arditi. The film draws attention to the conditions of these child victims through poignant portraits of young people and those trying desperately to save them, bringing the severity of the situation home to us. This was also the first time the 'Air France Foundation' prize was awarded for work carried out by an association in the field.

Francois Brousse, chairman of the Foundation said "Helping children in difficulty is the cornerstone of the Air France Foundation. Our commitment, together with that of UNESCO, to fight the scourge of destitute children appears to us as fundamental and has been inherent in the actions we have directed throughout the world over the last 17 years."
