Wednesday, January 20, 2010
Hostelworld.com, the market leader in online reservations to the budget, independent and youth travel market for 10 years, has launched the Hostelworld.com iPhone application. The app is the latest digital development to join the online budget travel sector and will deliver great flexibility and convenience to customers booking hostels and other types of budget accommodation ‘on the go’.

The booking process is streamlined, ensuring that the mobile booking process is as simple and easy as possible. The Hostelworld.com iPhone app brings the ease of booking online to customers wherever they may be; suiting their itinerary as required. Users can view photos, read reviews of hostels and effortlessly make their bookings, storing their preferences for review in offline mode and providing a practical hostel research and booking tool.

To celebrate the launch of the free app Hostelworld.com are offering no booking fees on any bookings made on the iPhone until 29th January.

Key value features of the application include the following:
- Free to download through the iPhone application store;
- City map view of hostels, showing users current location;
- Advanced sorting and filtering accommodation options in line with user requirements;
- Ability to compile a list of favourites and save personal preferences all in one place;
- Offline mode allows users to access downloaded properties for chosen destinations;
- Ability to book multiple room types simultaneously
- Users can store bookings, allowing them to generate a history of previous bookings that can easily be referred to.

Hostelworld.com Product Manager Yvonne Martin commented “Hostelworld.com continuously strives to deliver additional value to our customers. As a direct result, we are launching this app recognising that a large number of our customers are on the road at any one time, so this free mobile app affords them greater convenience and the opportunity to personalise and store their accommodation research history”.

Yvonne continued “A recent survey we conducted highlighted that 87% of our customers bring a mobile phone with them on their travels, demonstrating how our customer demographic is much closer to their mobile phones than a lap top.  This app is the first in a series of developments aimed at delivering real value to our customers by meeting their actual needs when on the road, enabling them to ‘sleep easy’ with the service that we provide”.
