The Sultanate of Oman has been presented with the Silver award at the Wanderlust Annual Travel Awards ceremony at the Destinations Holiday and Travel Show, Earl’s Court. Oman was considered to be the second best destination worldwide, after Namibia, based on an overall satisfaction rating from readers’ travels in 2009.
This stunning Arabic country, only an eight hour flight from the UK with Oman Air, is this year also celebrating its 40th year celebrations, as well as being voted ‘Destination of the Decade’ by The Guardian Travel Section.
Alison Cryer, Director, Oman Tourist Office UK and Ireland commented: “We are delighted that Wanderlust readers enjoyed their experiences of Oman, there are so many wonderful destinations that to even be considered for this award is a great achievement and a testimony to both the stunning diversity of the nation and the warm welcome visitors receive from the Omani people.”
The Top Country Award is the leading prize at the travel magazine’s annual awards ceremony and is voted for by Wanderlust readers.
