Business Round Destination Colombia
15 markets to participate in tourism business round Proexport

A group of 85 international buyers from the United States, France, Brazil, UK, Germany, Argentina, Panama, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, Peru, Mexico, Chil Chile,Venezuela, Ecuador and Puerto Rico, invited by Proexport (Colombian Trade and Tourism Board), will participate in the fourth version of the Business Round Destination Colombia, which take place on February 25th and 26th in Corferias - Bogota, as part of the twenty-ninth Anato Tourism Showcase 2010. In the Business Round Colombia Destination, 1.872 business meetings will be held between the group of buyers and 120 Colombian exporters.

Maria Elvira Pombo, president of Proexport assures the large number of new buyers who participate in the Business Round are due to the emergence of Colombia as one of the major touritourist destinations recommended to visit in 2010 in different parts of the world. This year, the strategy aims to expand the wholesalers with the aim of attracting new buyers and increase the  presence of Colombia in key markets.

Within the delegation of buyers invited by Proexport, through the Tourism Vice-presidency, 90 percent goes to Colombia for the first time and the other 10 percent attend the country to iden identify different opportunities in the national tourism. Twelve guests are part of the Corporate Travel segment and are interested in knowing better the country’s supply for golf tourism.

Nubia Stella Martinez, Vice President of Tourism Proexport said that this time the country will be promoting mainly History and Culture, Nature and Sun and Beach to promote the offer of the  most established products considering that this time a fairly new delegation visits the country for the first time.

The delegation comes from the United States (14), Venezuela (10), France (9), Brazil (7), United Kingdom (7), Argentina (6), Panama (6), Peru (6), Mexico (5), Ecuador (4), Germany (3), Chi  Chile (3), Puerto Rico (2), Canada (1) and Trinidad and Tobago (1). And the destinations to be promoted are mainly Bogota region, which includes Boyaca, Valle del Cauca; Medellin CartCartagena, Barranquilla, Santa Marta, Huila, San Andres and Providencia.

Buyers and international journalists were previously invited by Proexport in familiarization trips to the Triangle Coffee, Cartagena, San Andres, Providencia, Santa Marta, Santander, Cali, Med Medellin and Bogota to recognize the national supply of products and destinations.
