Sol Melia is the most well-known hotel company in Spain and is the first hotel chain mentioned by 25.4% of the population according to the 3rd edition of the Hotel Barometer published by the Spanish Hotel Managers Association.

The survey carried out by the consultancy Simple Logica shows a significant change for the leading Spanish hotel company compared to the 2007 and 2008 editions, making it the most well-known of all of the Spanish hotel brands, named in first position by one in four Spanish people.

These results confirm the conclusions of the recent survey by TNS for Sol Melia which also named the Majorcan hotel chain as the most well-known in Spain, recognised by 93% of the people surveyed. The 20 best-known brands also included several of the individual brands operated by Sol Melia, such as Melia (positioned at number two), Gran Melia, Tryp, Sol and Me by Melia.

The company founded by Gabriel Escarrer is not only the best-known amongst Spanish people, but it is also ranked third amongst Spanish companies that generate the highest degree of confidence according to 2009 Business Confidence Barometer survey organised by Future Brand who questioned more than 3,000 business professionals and students.
