The main focus will be on e-learning programmes for personnel training
Amadeus and Tell Me More-Auralog to collaborate on CSR projects in the travel industry
Tuesday, March 23, 2010

Amadeus and Auralog, a multinational company specialising in e-learning materials and solutions for language training, have signed a framework cooperation agreement to set up Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects based on the travel and tourism sector.

Amadeus CEO David V. Jones and Tell Me More-Auralog CEO Nagi Sioufi signed the agreement, which aims to promote joint projects to contribute to the economic and social development of disadvantaged areas and social segments, aimed in particular at enhancing capabilities and competitiveness in tourism.

The activities will focus primarily on e-learning programmes in areas such as: the training and education of personnel in the sector, especially for language learning; the contribution of technology; the strengthening and improvement of management systems in micro, small and medium-sized travel companies; the support of travel retailers and distributors; and the creation of a strong tourism culture.

The activities will take place in Latin America, Africa and Asia-Pacific and will be aimed primarily at people working in tourism with limited resources, as well as at CSR programs to provide professional training to people in need.

This partnership is part of Amadeus's CSR strategy, which focuses on promoting the development of tourism in struggling areas through its established role as a technology provider for the sector. The collaboration with Auralog is a new addition to the Amadeus's global network of strategic partnerships. David Jones explained "We are delighted to have Tell Me More-Auralog as a partner. It sets a global benchmark in language learning software which allows us to go even further in our aim to promote competitiveness in the sector by emphasising personnel training through online learning".

Nagi Sioufi, CEO of Tell Me More-Auralog, said "At Tell Me More-Auralog we deeply believe in a multilingual, multicultural and multi-polar world with balanced cooperation. Our objective is to provide the ultimate e-solution to learn or teach languages. This alliance in CSR projects with Amadeus, gives us the opportunity to strengthen our worldwide position in the travel and tourism industry”.

Amadeus has recently signed framework cooperation agreements with the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID) and the Codespa Foundation. It is also part of the worldwide MassiveGood initiative, created by the Millennium Foundation to collect funds through micro-donations made at the time of booking travel, which go towards projects to fight diseases. Amadeus developed the technology needed to set up the process. Other areas which form part of Amadeus's CSR strategy are computer donation, technology transfer and  volunteering.
