Flight site Skyscanner releases its latest flight trends report
March 2010 top 50 destinations
Wednesday, April 07, 2010

March 2010 saw Spain hold on to the top three spots and Palma moved up one place to fourth. Turkey is rising up the ranks, but after a surprise spike in searches to Delhi last month, we say goodbye to the Indian city as it drops out of the Top 50 altogether this month.

Two new entries this month with Stockholm, the Swedish capital, entering the Top 50 at number 48 and Los Angeles entering at number 49. Munich saw the biggest move up the charts, rising 13 places to number 33, quite possibly due to people booking flights for Oktoberfest. Venice rose 11 spots to 31, and Larnaca in Cyprus was up 6 places to number 17.

Delhi disappeared from the Top 50 after storming up the charts last month by 12 places. The little known Polish destination of Rzeszow also disappeared from the Top 50.

Barry Smith, Skyscanner Co-Founder and Development Director commented: “Spain is holding on to its lead, but Dalaman and Bodrum are rising through the ranks. Cyprus is also doing well. It looks like people are taking advantage of cheap flights to Munich and booking them now, possibly for Oktoberfest or one of the many other events that are taking place during 2010. The UK cites of London, Edinburgh, Manchester and Glasgow are also performing well, either holding their position from last month, or rising in popularity.”
