In February, passenger traffic at Denver International Airport increased 5.1 percent over February 2009, with 3,700,975 passengers traveling through during the second month of the year.
Following January’s record passenger traffic, which was the largest monthly passenger increase at DIA since December 2008, the bump in February brought this year’s total to 7,477,378 passengers, which is an increase of 286,081 passengers, or 4 percent over the first two months of 2009.
“I think we can contribute this nice jump in passenger traffic to incredibly competitive fares in the Denver market, as well as an economic rebound that is beginning to take shape within our industry,” Denver Aviation Manager Kim Day said Tuesday. “2010 is shaping up to be a much better year for DIA as we see more confidence in both the business and leisure travel sectors.”
DIA also reported increases in flight operations and cargo handled in February. Flight operations rose 1.5 percent to 47,293, and cargo handled jumped to 13.7 percent with 40,634,853 pounds in February.
