A chance to sample the finest beers of the Czech Republic awaits people booking  accommodation in Prague next month. The country is famous for beers such as Pilsner Urquell and Budvar, but drinkers will find much more to enjoy at the Czech Beer Festival.

Each of the nation's top brewing firms, as well as a large number of smaller producers and regional breweries, are represented at this annual event.

Taking place in the capital from May 14th to 30th, the festival provides visitors with an opportunity to taste over 50 different brands of Czech beer in traditional glass pitchers.

Admission to the festival site at Prague's PVA Letnany Exhibition Centre is free. When purchasing drinks, visitors pay using tolars - a special currency unique to the event. One tolar is the equivalent of 40 koruna (£1.40) and the coins can be bought in packets of five from the table servers. As well as the beer, tolars can be used to purchase souvenirs from the festival, such as T-shirts, pint glasses and 'beer goggles'.

With hundreds of waiters and waitresses in traditional Czech costume, food provided by top local chefs and live entertainment, the 17-day festival is guaranteed to provide a memorable experience for people visiting Prague in May.
