The prestigious Annual Gala Awards Presentation Lunch of the Considerate Hoteliers Association (CHA) will be held on Wednesday, 2 June 2010, at one of the UK’s most eminent 5-star venues – The Dorchester, Park Lane, London W1.
The Association’s AGM will begin proceedings at 11.30am in The Dorchester’s Crystal Suite, followed by a pre-Gala Lunch reception commencing at 12 noon in the Holford Room. The main event, a sumptuous 3-course Gala Awards Lunch, will start at 12.30pm in the Orchid Room – during which the winners of the five categories of the coveted annual ‘Considerate Hotel of the Year Awards 2009/10’ will be announced and presented with their Dartington Crystal trophies.
Commenting on the event, CHA Chairman Gordon Campbell Gray – Chairman, CampbellGray Hotels – said: “We are greatly indebted to The Dorchester, a much valued and leading CHA member, for assisting us in providing a fitting venue to match the importance of the occasion – the eagerly awaited CHA Annual Gala Awards Presentation Lunch, which is one of the top events in the UK hospitality industry calendar.”
Celebrating the best in environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) performance and open to all hotels and guest-houses in the UK, the 2009/10 CHA Awards (see ‘Notes to Editors’ for full details) comprise: the newly introduced category of ‘The Considerate Green Marketing Initiative of the Year’, sponsored by Beacon Purchasing; ‘The Considerate Sustainable Food Award’ – reintroduced this year by popular demand and supported by Sustain and Fairtrade; ‘The Considerate Green Team of the Year’; ‘The Considerate Green Champion of the Year’; and the top award – ‘The Considerate Hotel of the Year’, sponsored by Gilchrist & Soames Ltd and presented to the hotel or guest-house that is considered by the judges to be the best all-rounder in 2009 through succeeding in a wide range of environmental initiatives: from energy and water conservation, waste reduction and support for sustainable food, to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Commenting on the 2009/10 awards, CHA Director and Secretary John Firrell said: “We are delighted at the number of entries received and by the excellent standard demonstrated. Each year, entrants manage to go that extra ‘green’ mile beyond the previous year. Size does not matter – we could just as likely see a small hotel, guest-house or Bed & Breakfast setting the example for other larger operations to follow. It could be an interesting year!”
