Designed to eliminate the time consuming manual processes
Barrhead Travel selects SCL’s UltraPos
Thursday, May 20, 2010
Barrhead Travel, Scotland’s largest independent travel company, has invested in a new automated travel money system, UltraPoS Small Business Edition (USBE), from SCL. Designed to eliminate the time consuming manual processes involved in issuing foreign exchange and travellers cheques, USBE speeds up transaction times, provides a better customer experience and reduces risk of user error.

The new system, which is based on SCL’s world renowned UltraPoS software platform, is now live in Barrhead Travels’ Aberdeen branch, with further rollout planned in the next few months.

Sharon Munro, Barrhead Travel chief executive, comments, “We combine the in-depth knowledge and personal service of an independent travel agency with large-scale purchasing strength and comprehensive in-branch travel services including Bureaux de Change.”

She adds, “Using USBE, we can access the flexible features and performance of SCL’s UltraPoS system; but at a price that is affordable for our size and scale of organisation.  With a range of real-time reports - from monitoring transactions to calculating profit and loss - USBE provides us with a holistic view of our travel money business across the participating branches. Also, because the system can be run on an internet connected PC and requires minimal training, implementation has been painless, with no disruption to our branch operations.”

USBE is hosted on a highly secure environment and has built-in features that allow Barrhead Travel to comply with Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations. Managers can control employees’ user access on USBE by selecting a user profile for each person; thereby ensuring staff only have access to the areas they need in order to perform their job functions.

Ray Stanton, Managing Director of SCL confirms, “Barrhead Travel is an ideal customer for USBE. Not only will it provide them with faster, more flexible and secure operation, managing multiple transactions and setting fees - it also offers a range of real-time reporting and management functions that will help them run their foreign exchange business more efficiently as their travel money business expands.”
