Midscale extended-stay property close to SeaWorld, Six Flags and Lackland air force base
New Candlewood Suites opens to serve growing Northwest San Antonio
Monday, June 14, 2010

IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) announced the opening of the Candlewood Suites San Antonio Northwest, the first midscale extended-stay property in the rapidly growing Northwest San Antonio area.  The opening of the new property, located at Braun Road and Texas Highway 1604, midway between SeaWorld and Six Flags Fiesta Texas, reflects Candlewood Suites’ commitment to growing its Texas portfolio to 50 properties, with more than 30 expected to open in the next two years.

“We are pleased to grow with our owners to build the right hotels in the right market,” said Jim Anhut, Chief Development Officer, the Americas, IHG. “The demand for affordable extended-stay options is apparent with the active business and tourism industries in Texas.”

In addition to being close to major tourist attractions, the new four-story, 81-room Candlewood Suites San Antonio Northwest is conveniently located near Lackland Air Force Base and the South Texas Medical Center.  It is also close to several corporate offices and new Kohl’s call center.

“We’re very pleased to welcome the Candlewood Suites Northwest San Antonio to our swiftly growing family of midscale extended-stay hotels,” said Gina LaBarre, vice president, Brand Delivery, the Americas, IHG. “The amenities that a Candlewood Suites offers, such as full kitchens, comfortable living areas, free laundry and housekeeping services, will appeal to guests whether they’re visiting any of these Texas cities for business or leisure.”

The new Candlewood Suites features an outdoor pool, a business center, a pet-walking trail, and a gazebo with a barbecue grill. Guests can take advantage of the just-like-home amenities available at all Candlewood Suites hotels, including complimentary high-speed Internet access, free local phone calls, free on-site guest laundry and a 24-hour fitness center. Guests can also enjoy the convenience of the Candlewood Cupboard®, where a variety of beverages, breakfast items, snacks, frozen entrees and sundries are available for purchase on the honor system at any time along with complimentary Juan Valdez freshly brewed coffee.  Additionally, guests can visit the free Lending Library, where movies and music are available for use in guestrooms, which all feature a DVD and CD player.

All Candlewood Suites hotels feature a combination of studio or one-bedroom suite floor plans with a full kitchen, comfortable recliner, large workspace with desk chair and overhead lighting.  All hotels offer the brand’s Comforts of Home™ Bedding Collection with upgraded mattresses and box spring sets, mattress topper, fluffy duvet inserts and poly-cotton covers matching the hotel’s color scheme, 250-thread count micro-check sateen sheets in “Candlelight”, triple sheeting, contemporary cotton estate blankets, choice of three upgraded pillow types in firm, medium and feather and a decorative “Consider Us Home” pillow.

The Candlewood Suites San Antonio Northwest is owned by NJS Properties, LLC, and managed by Jaysons LTD under a licensing agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group.

“We are excited to be opening a new Candlewood Suites hotel at a location that is ideal for both business and leisure guests,” said Kishore Samtami, president of NJS Properties. “We’re pleased to be part of Candlewood Suites’ expansion in Texas, especially in the rapidly growing Northwest portion of San Antonio.”
