Monday, June 21, 2010

Seville Conference and Exhibition Centre, FIBES, was the venue chosen by the organizers of the Italian Tourism Forum “Andalucia ti ama, te quiere” for  holding its activities last 10th June. The Forum, organized by Turismo Andaluz representing the Andalusian Government’s Tourism, Commerce and Sports Department, with the cooperation of Turespana and Prodetur, was mainly intended to boost the tourist flow between Andalucia and the Italian market.

This action provided the Italian agents who attended the meeting with a wide perspective of the tourist resources in Andalucia and it also promoted direct contact between travel agents and those representing the supply side of the region.

In this way, during the commercial meetings carried out at Seville Conference and Exhibition Centre, FIBES, there were over 70 Andalusian agents representing the different tourist segments: sun & beach, health & beauty, heritage & culture, urban, golf, sports, nature and meetings. On the Italian demand side, there were operators and travel agents attending the event.

More specifically, FIBES hosted a working day divided into two content units: in the morning, official opening and meetings with members of Turespana and travel agency groups who offered a new view of the Italian Tourist Market and its reality; in the afternoon, after lunch, two combined workshops were held. The Italian demand representatives got distributed in two different time slots, 50% of the agents in each of the slots. Andalusian providers were all present in both time slots, and they could be identified according to five different segments: “Culture and City Break”, “Golf and Sports”, “Nature”, “Sun and Beach / Health and Beauty” and “Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Events / Exhibitions (MICE)”.

Besides, the Forum included a number of routes and itineraries after the meetings which made it possible for the agents to get to know Seville, the Campina (countryside) and the Sierra Norte (Northern Mountains), Cordoba and the province of Huelva. On the days before the workshops, they visited Malaga, with the support of the provincial tourist boards involved.
