Vueling, the Spanish low-fare airline, is gearing up for its first flights connecting Scotland and Spain with the start of its new direct route between Edinburgh and Barcelona on 24th June. The three times weekly flights will complement the airline’s existing UK operations from London Heathrow to Bilbao, La Coruna and Seville.
From 24th June to 12th September, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday departures will be from Barcelona at 11:30, arriving into Edinburgh Airport at 13:15 and from Edinburgh at 13:50, arriving at Barcelona at 17:25. Tickets are available online at vueling.com and through travel agents.
“We are delighted to include Scotland in Vueling’s route network and forward bookings on the service look extremely promising,” said CEO, Alex Cruz. “Edinburgh is a great addition to our existing UK services, as well as to Vueling’s expanding route network. Barcelona and Edinburgh have strong social similarities, with both cities being renowned for the arts. The Vueling service will provide the perfect reason for a Spanish/Scottish cultural exchange.”
Onward connections through Barcelona available from July 5th
Edinburgh-originating passengers will also be able to make through connections on to other destinations in the Vueling network from July 5th, when the airline’s connections programme, centred on its Barcelona hub, launches. Passengers travelling from Edinburgh to Barcelona will be able to book onward flights from Edinburgh (with the convenience of through checking their bags to their ultimate destination) to Alicante, Asturias, Bilbao, Grenada, Ibiza, Malaga, Mallorca, Menorca, Santiago and Seville. Through fares are available to book online at vueling.com.
