Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts’ new survey
Joe Public is a man of simple pleasures
Friday, June 25, 2010
Free toiletries, clean robes and being able to find the loo in the dark - all rated highly in Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts’ new survey on what people miss and enjoy about being away.

When Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts asked what people most enjoyed about going away, 59% said it was simply enjoying a break in their routine - proof that the old saying “a change is as good as a rest” is entirely true.

In further evidence that Joe Public is a man of simple pleasures, the next three most popular answers were: freshly-laundered robes and new slippers; the delight of coming back to a magically-made bed; and sampling the free toiletries.

When asked what people most miss about home when away, the answers were similarly down-to earth, with being apart from loved ones coming top with 32.9% of the votes. Having their own things to hand and sleeping in their own bed came second and third with 31.6% and 30.4% respectively, followed by the underrated but vital ability of being able to find the loo in the dark.
