Eilat: Closer to Europe than before
El Al to launch flights Tel Aviv - Eilat from 1 August
Wednesday, June 30, 2010

El Al will begin operating three flights a day from Tel Aviv (Ben Gurion) to Eilat from 1 August in a move that is expected to increase the number of foreign tourists flying into Israel's southernmost resort. The airline will use Boeing 737s from its standard fleet for the new route and the flights have been scheduled to maximize the convenience for tourists arriving into Ben Gurion airport from foreign destinations.

Foreign tourists who want to fly to Eilat directly after arriving to Israel will be charged $20 for the extra 55 minute flight and will be provided with a shuttle to take them from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1. El Al passengers who want to remain in the center for a few days can purchase the added leg to Eilat for $30.

El Al will be offering three daily flights Sunday through Thursday, a Friday morning flight, and Saturday evening flight as well – a total of 17 weekly flights.

The El Al flights now bring the weekly number of flights into Eilat to 267. Israir offer 150 weekly flights to Eilat and Arkia offer 100 fights each week into Eilat, with both airlines flying from Tel Aviv's Sde Dov airport, as well as Ben Gurion airport.
