Wednesday, July 14, 2010

UK based private charter operator Synergy Aviation has based a Beechcraft King Air 200 and flight crew at Malta’s Luqa Airport, dedicated to air ambulance work. Configured with a ‘Lifeport’ stretcher system and five passenger seats, the aircraft is available 24/7 and is a valuable addition to the market, primarily serving North Africa. An early booking was to Tripoli to support an oil worker with acute appendicitis.

Malta is renowned for its high level of medical care and Synergy’s decision to base an aircraft there was welcomed by the country’s Prime Minister Dr Lawrence Gonzi. In Malta Synergy is co-operating with Medilink International, a leading healthcare provider supplying quality medical provision to clients throughout Europe, Africa and the Mediterranean.

“Having an air ambulance based in Malta and another based in London, gives us the flexibility to react quickly to our customers requirements throughout Europe and North Africa,” said Synergy Managing Director Glen Heavens. “We are eyeing further opportunities in the Mediterranean,” he added.
