The deal includes a Fleet Management Agreement
Emirates' recent A380 order to be powered by Engine Alliance GP7200s engines
Thursday, July 22, 2010

Emirates, the Dubai-based international airline, has selected the Engine Alliance GP7200 engines to power its 32 Airbus A380 aircraft ordered last month. The deal includes a Fleet Management Agreement for the maintenance, overhaul and repair of the engines. The total value of the agreement, including spare engines, is approximately $4.8 billion (USD) over the life of the contract.

The agreement was signed today during a ceremony at the Farnborough Air Show by His Highness (H.H.) Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group and Mary Ellen Jones, President of the Engine Alliance.

“GP7200 engines are powering the 11 A380 aircraft currently operating in our fleet and the results have been very positive,” stated HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al-Maktoum. “The engine's fuel efficiency, reliability and low noise output were decisive factors in our selection of the product for our additional 32 A380s.”

"We're very proud of the GP7200's performance in the Emirates fleet to date, and delighted to be part of Emirates' continued growth and success," said Ms. Jones.
