New 25 minute ferry ride from Reykjavik
Take a trip to Iceland as the puffling flies
Friday, July 23, 2010

In early August the flight of the pufflings is one of the highlights of the birding year when millions of baby puffins leave their nests for the first time.

Only a 25 minute ferry ride to the Westman Islands from 21 July 2010, visitors and locals can help those fumbling birds on their first attempt in the sky.

Located seven miles off the coast of Iceland, the previous two hour and 45 minute journey to Heimaey, the largest and only inhabited of the Westman Islands, is now just a hop, skip and a jump away, opening up a whole new world to those visiting Iceland. With Reykjavik just three hours away onboard Iceland Express, it is the perfect destination for animal lovers and nature watchers.

Iceland Express offers flights from just £89 one-way including taxes, allowing travellers to get there quickly and cheaply. The new ferry route leaves from Bakkafjara pier, Reykjavik, seven times a day for Heimaey. Iceland Express operates a daily flight to Reykjavik from London Gatwick and twice weekly flights from Stansted.
