Mindful of travel agents’ need to stay abreast of the latest social media and business technology,
THETRADESHOW (Orlando, Sept. 12-14) has added six additional courses, all geared to helping travel agents succeed in today’s competitive marketplace.
“Now more than ever, today’s travel business needs to be up-to-date on the latest social media and marketing techniques to stay ahead of the game. The educational line-up at THETRADEDHOW this year has something for everyone. Whether you are just jumping into the social media waters or consider yourself fairly adept, attending THETRADESHOW will provide you with new skills and resources upon which to draw,” said
Chris Russo, president and chair of ASTA, one of the THETRADESHOW’s 16 managing partners.
Newly added social media and technology seminars are:
- Selling Travel in 140 Characters - Twitter for Travel Pros. Presented by Chelle Yarbrough, CTC. Twitter is here to stay - and savvy travel pros are selling travel (and themselves!) using 140 characters or less. Join Chelle Honiker Yarbrough, CTC, for an under-the-hood look at Twitter and how smart travel industry pros are using it. Attendees will lean how Twitter can help them find new customers and sell more travel; how to tie their account to other social media networks, such as Facebook, Plaxo and LinkedIn; where to find followers and the etiquette for retaining the best ones; rules to being a good “twitizen”; how to use hashtags and search options; and determining the best desktop and mobile clients. Attendees will receive a list of followers to get started and Web site resources to jump start their efforts. By the end of the session, those in attendance will know if Twitter is right for their marketing plan, and have practical tools to jumpstart their efforts.
- Top 10 Social Media Blunders and How to Avoid Them. Presented by Sophie Bujold. Social media can be a great way to interact with and find new customers. But to be successful, travel agents need to know what big mistakes to avoid and get a hand up on other “social newbies”. In this session, attendees will learn successful social media techniques for businesses; best practices for online interaction; getting a message across without overdoing it; and building trust and gaining clients.
