Seven luxury properties in Tanzania were among the 20 Top Lodges and Resorts in Africa and the Middle East selected by Travel + Leisure magazine’s readers’ choice World’s Best Awards. Travel + Leisure has the largest audience of any travel magazine, with a readership of over 1.5 million people. For the past 15 years, Travel + Leisure readers have voted on the World’s Best Awards for the top hotels, destinations, airlines, cruises, outfitters and transportation companies. The criteria determining the Lodges and Resorts category are rooms/facilities, location, service, restaurants/food and value.

Dr. Aloyce K. Nzuki, the Managing Director of the Tanzania Tourist Board, in commenting about the large number of Tanzania winners, said “this demonstrates that Tanzania is increasingly being recognized for its growing number of world-class properties and its luxury safari product. Tanzania aims to provide the best travel experience possible to every visitor to our country and the fact that Tanzania won over one-third of the Awards shows that we have succeeded.”

The properties in Tanzania designated World’s Best are Serengeti Sopa Lodge, Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge, Zanzibar Serena Inn,  Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge, Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge and Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge.
