Team members plant 500 mangrove trees
Conrad Bali plays a part in coastal conservation
Wednesday, September 01, 2010

As part of the 2010 Conrad Bali Environmental program 500 mangrove trees were planted at the nearby Tengkulung Beach. The tree saplings were provided by the Forestry Office, Bali province for the local community in support of the coastal conservation efforts.

“The team members at Conrad Bali felt strongly about playing a part in conserving the lovely beaches where Conrad Bali is situated on,” said Michael Burchett, General Manager. “The planting of the mangrove trees will aid in the preservation of the coastal environment in Bali and also ensure the sustainability of the people and communities that live here.”

Mangrove trees are of major ecological and cultural importance to Bali and the local community as they build their own environment and protect coastal areas from erosion and storm surges especially during hurricanes and tsunamis.
