Gulf show moves to other country
Monday, March 27, 2000
ITE Travel Exhibitions have moved to their Gulf<.> International Travel & Tourism exhibition, to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This will be the first international travel trade exhibition to take place within the Kingdom.
Director of ITE<.> Travel Exhibitions David Hammond said: `we have always focused on the niche northern Gulf markets of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain which account for a very significant 85% of the outbound and intra-Gulf travel market.
`We are pleased to go to the heart of our target market, which is one of the most desired markets in the world, with by far highest per-capita spenders on travel in Arabia`
`Jeddah, the commercial capital, provides the ideal location being home to the majority of Saudi Arabia`s tourism companies. In addition, the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia seees the recent growth of domestic tourism within Saudi and the emergence of the Kingdom`s inbound tourism infrastructure. Jeddah also provides the gateway to the holy Mecca City and the major Haji and Umta travel sector.
Added Gulf 2000 exhibition director Roman McCarthy: `Key major exhibitors, some of whom have not attended the two previous events in Bahrain, have told us they want to go direct to the Saudi market. They have always added road shows and sales missions in Saudi to their other Arabian marketing plans, which is what we are hoping to replace. Response to our initial launch of the Saudi event has been overwhelming with the vast majority of the market being of the opinion that this is a positive development, which they wanted to happen.`
`Our exhibitors want the Saudi market, as they know that Saudis do not attend other regional or major international travel exhibitions in very large numbers. In addition, they know that the Saudi consumer has a reputation for making lucrative bookings, directly on an exhibitor`s stand`.

Gulf 2000 will take place form Tuesday 26th to Friday 29th September 2000 at the Jeddah International Exhibition Center.
