Ethiopian Airlines launches new service to two African capitals
Tuesday, December 07, 2010
Ethiopian Airlines is pleased to announce that it will launch new flight services to Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, as well as Bangui, the capital of Central African Republic. Travelers from all over the world now will have direct access to both these cities via Ethiopian Airline's strategic hub in Addis Ababa.

Ethiopian Airlines will operate three weekly flights to Maputo from Addis Ababa and four weekly flights to Bangui. The launch of these new flight services marks Ethiopian Airline’s 60th destination globally and 39th in Africa, further expanding the airline’s route network as part of the company’s strategic initiative to link major African cities with the rest of the world.

In addition to these new flights, Ethiopian Airlines and Air Mozambique signed an agreement to code share the Addis Ababa/ Maputo route. All Ethiopian Airlines flights operating to Maputo will be code shared with Air Mozambique with successful completion of system compatibility tests. Furthermore, both carriers have also agreed to enhance their code share cooperation considering as many viable beyond code share points as possible at a later stage.

As the pioneer in the development of the African commercial aviation industry, Ethiopian Airlines has worked tirelessly in connecting Africa to the rest of the world. Today, it is operating one of the largest networks in Africa with extended services both in passengers and cargo. Ethiopian Airlines continuously strives to live up to its motto of the ‘New Spirit of Africa’.
