The Entity of Tourism and the Ministry of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires will continue in 2011 with the presentation of “The history in its place”. As from January 9th, the circuit of guided visits featuring historical reenactments created by Marise Monteiro will be back again with their habitual performances and they will be launching as well new shows that will illustrate the lives of renowned Argentinean writers and their literary characters. All this will happen in the context of the appointment of Buenos Aires as World Book Capital 2011 by UNESCO.
The history in its place suggests a different way of knowing the City. This particular proposal consists of different guided visits with a dramatization of the events and characters of the history of Buenos Aires. During 2011, three visits (“Footprints of Mujica Lainez in Belgrano”, “The tragic story of the brides of Barracas”, “Writers and figures of Avenida de Mayo”) will join the previous and still valid 2010 shows of “The ghosts of San Telmo”, “Immigrants in La Boca” and “An afternoon with Roberto Arlt in Flores”.
Each free tour tells a story, based on actual facts: the myths of the most ancient place of the City where the yellow fever beat many years ago, the European and poor immigration that arrived to La Boca Port looking for the American dream or the literary characters of Roberto Arlt, Mujica Lainez, Cortazar or Garcia Lorca, writers who have dwelled in Buenos Aires and who have captured the City in their literature.
