Association of Canadian Travel Agencies
ACTA, Mexico Tourism Board, announce partnership
Friday, January 21, 2011
The Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA) and the Mexico Tourism Board (MTB) in Canada announced they have formed a partnership to promote travel and tourism between the two countries.

ACTA will provide members and consumers with information about Mexico. Mexico travel and tourism will be advertised and promoted on the ACTA members’ website and on the new ACTA Travel Directory for consumers and members. Members can note their Mexico specializations on directory listings. Articles on Mexico and its various tourism regions will be featured on both the member website and the ACTA directory.

A blog for ACTA member agencies and other travel partners, at acta.ca, will feature Mexican destinations with close, agent-friendly looks at popular tourist regions throughout the country.

Canada is a prime market for Mexico’s tourism industry with a rising number of Canadians visiting Mexico over the past decade. “We are very pleased to be able to work with the Mexico Tourism Board to help direct Canadians to the places in Mexico that will suit their desires for leisure and business travel,” said ACTA National Board Chair Jacqueline Jamieson.

“We have formed a partnership with ACTA to identify, communicate and support the development of market opportunities for ACTA’s travel agency and travel supplier members,” says Guillermo Eguiarte, Director of the MTB Toronto Office. “We recognize travel agencies as the front line of Canada’s travel industry and we want agencies and agents to appreciate the incredible experiences Mexico has to offer to their clients,”

David McCaig, President and COO of ACTA, said, “We are delighted to welcome the Mexico Tourism Board as a partner along with our existing partners which are leaders in our industry. Mexico is a top destination for Canadian tourists and business travelers and we want to further promotion and marketing of our agency members in this high value market space.”

The Mexico Tourism Board has offices in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver in Canada and maintains 17 offices outside of Mexico to support tourism to that country.
