Buying Business Travel Awards 2011
AirPlus announced winner – "Best Corporate Card Provider"
Thursday, January 27, 2011
In its 16th year, the Buying Business Travel Awards returned last night. The event continues at its traditional home: the impressive Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House on Park Lane, a JW Marriott Hotel. AirPlus welcomed guests with a sponsored champagne reception in the Ballroom.

Winner “Best Corporate Card Provider”
AirPlus has long been recognised as having the best lodge card product in the UK. Prospective and existing clients had a strong need for a walking plastic corporate card as well. This was remedied with the launch of the AirPlus Corporate Card in 2009.

Introduced later in 2009, the AirPlus Business Travel Portal allows Travel Managers to reduce the financial risk associated with corporate cards. When Travel Managers enter the portal, they can run reports of cardholders who have not paid on time, or are close to spending limits.

Travel Managers can also use the portal to make real-time online adjustments to the credit limits and cash allowances of each cardholder. This means that the Travel Manager can instantly reduce or shut a traveler’s access to funds if they are behaving improperly. Conversely, it can allow them more funds if needed unexpectedly. That is exactly what happened during the ash crisis, when hotel stays by AirPlus customers leaped 19% and cash withdrawals jumped 20%. Travel Managers are able to control cardholder funds directly because AirPlus has designed its own processing platform.

AirPlus International continually strives to understand customer needs and conducts a customer satisfaction survey globally every year in order to create new features for its product suite. AirPlus UK’s customer satisfaction survey for 2010 showed improvement over 2009 in six categories, with the seventh unchanged.

Yael Klein, Managing Director at AirPlus international said: “We are absolutely delighted with the news. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the AirPlus team. We have a fantastic Corporate Card product that is designed to give flexibility and control to the client. A large part of our daily work consists of carefully considering which features would be beneficial to our customers. Then, we incorporate these features in our corporate strategy and business targets to ensure success. We will continue in our efforts to listen to customer requirements and endeavor to innovate, develop and further improve our products.”
