The MCEC experienced growth across all sectors in 2010 and with fresh ideas going forward for the year ahead, the venue plans to be busier and even more successful in the competitive international and national business environment.
Among these new faces is Leighton Wood who was announced deputy chief executive of MCEC in November 2010, and brings with him a range of skills instrumental in business planning and management input as the MCEC business grows over the coming years.
After extensive experience in senior executive roles in the hotel industry, Anne Jamieson joined the MCEC in June 2009 as director of sales and was promoted to director of sales and marketing in March 2010.
In August 2010 there were internal appointments including the appointment of Michael Walsh as director of technology operations, responsible for technical and communication services and IT. Chris Connelly was appointed to the role of director of operations responsible for event planning and event services and operations.
In recognising MCEC’s commitment to local, fresh and sustainable food and wine and further driving the venue’s food and wine philosophy, Frank Burger was promoted from food and beverage manager to director of food and beverage in August 2010.
Other changes include the appointment of Amanda McPherson as director of finance and the appointment of Barbara Adams as director of administration and corporate planning.
MCEC’s chief executive Leigh Harry said: “I’d like to congratulate the new directors on their appointments and I look forward to working with them on further developing our multi award-winning venue.”
