Mauritius encourages Middle East travellers to start moving again
Friday, August 08, 2003
In an effort to jump start the post summer season business in the wake of recent global events, The Residence Mauritius has increased its marketing efforts throughout the Middle East.

The industry has been hit hard by the current climate and we have borne a downturn in reservations because of it. The Middle East market is a crucial one for us and we want to encourage travellers to start moving again and to visit our island. said Mr. Frederic Chretien, General Manager of The Residence Mauritius. With Emirates offering non-stop flights 4 times a week, Mauritius is the ideal holiday destination for the Middle East traveller

To this end, we have pledged our marketing funds in this direction, with representation by our local marketing representative office Fusion Marketing Management and by offering packages specifically aimed at the Gulf traveller.

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
