Three weekly services between Rockhampton and Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine)
Return to Rocky and 100,000 passengers through Rockhampton Airport
Tuesday, March 29, 2011

Tiger Airways Australia welcomes its 100,000th passenger through Rockhampton Airport today as services recommence on the popular Rockhampton - Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine) route.

The 100,000th passenger will be greeted at Rockhampton Airport tomorrow, before departing at 10am on flight TT 5585 bound for Melbourne. The lucky local resident is travelling with her family and will be greeted at the airport on arrival (at the airport check in desk at 8:30am) and offered a Tiger Airways travel voucher for future travel on the Tiger network.

To celebrate a "return to Rocky" Australia's only true low fare airline is offering airfares between Rockhampton and Melbourne from just $1*^ in a week-long sale which finishes at midnight on Thursday 31 March.

The offer is available to passengers who book online to travel on a round trip between Rockhampton and Melbourne as Tiger Airways continues to support the recovery efforts in far north Queensland.

Tiger Airways Head of Communications and Marketing, Vanessa Regan, says that services between Melbourne and Rockhampton were temporarily suspended due to the Rockhampton Airport closure caused by the Queensland floods and now "it's great to be back!"

"We're thrilled to be reinstating flights between Melbourne and Rockhampton as part of our new season schedule and hope that our consistently low airfares will be just the ticket for many residents and tourism operators in far north Queensland affected by the recent floods," she says.

Tiger Airways first launched flights to Rockhampton on the first day of operations in Australia on 23 November 2007. The airline recently celebrated carrying seven million passengers around Australia and is the fastest growing major domestic airline.
