La Coruna, Bilbao and Seville are also connected to the British capital
Vueling inaugurates London-Vigo connection
Thursday, April 14, 2011
Vueling, the new generation Spanish airline, announces its new routes to and from London for this summer, as part of its international expansion plan. From this Saturday April 16th, a new direct connection with Vigo will operate, offering 30,000 seats until October in a special prize. Vueling also connects the British capital to La Coruna, Bilbao and Seville.

The new London-Vigo route was previously operated by Clickair during summer 2008 and 2009 with very successful results, with load factors reaching 78% in peak season (July and August). Vueling resumes the connection this year with three frequencies per week (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) from El Peinador airport at Vigo. The flights will depart at 15:55h from Vigo and at 17:35h from London.

Visitors to Vigo have the opportunity to sample delicious seafood and relax by the Atlantic Ocean. The Galician town is situated in the province of Pontevedra, in the northwest of Spain and boasts the best Galician cuisine and some incredible scenery, including Rodas beach, on the island of Monteagudo, which was chosen by The Guardian as the "most beautiful beach in the world".

Following the successful introduction of its own Connects programme through Barcelona, last July, Vueling is now commencing its international phase connecting Iberia’s intercontinental flights from Barcelona airport. Starting March 28th, Vueling now connects Barcelona El Prat airport with Miami and Sao Paulo, providing a total of 44 routes through Barcelona. Vueling intends to extend this operation to other international airlines such as American Airlines or British Airways, expecting 1 million passengers to be carried in connection by the end of 2011.

Vueling landed in London for first time in 2009 and since then the airline has carried more than 400,000 passengers to and from Heathrow. Vueling is now the second most profitable airline in Europe. Its current challenge is to keep developing products that meet the requirements of the business traveller, which represent 41% of the passenger total and progressively add new connections with other airline companies. Vueling will end 2011 with nine new aircraft and an investment that will amount to around 110 million Euros during this period. These new aircraft will gradually rejuvenate the fleet and reduce its average age to less than six years by 2012.
